Is Left The Only Right?

The ruling party, Bhartiya Janta Party, is perceived to be a Hindu party. In other words, anti-Muslim. However, this is far from the truth. Time again, the party has proved its confused ideology. Both, on ideology and mandate.

Had it not been for staunch Hindu icons like Yogi Adityanath, this party would have already lost a majority of its mandate. On numerous occasions, it has betrayed its core voters, only to appear more secular and tolerant to the media and the world.

T Raja Singh, a sole BJP MLA from minority-infested geography is another Hindu icon that has kept the ruling party’s votes and hopes intact. Today, he has been arrested for passing some allegedly derogatory remarks against the Prophet.

A comedian from the minority can mock Hindu deities and the chosen government of a state, Telangana, offers protection to him to come and perform and mock Hindus again. But that is not blasphemy. That comes under Freedom of Expression. But every time a Hindu utters anything, even if quoting Hadith, the minority without wasting even a moment issues multiple Fatwas.

Sadly, every time the battle against this so-called freedom of speech gets decisive, the ruling party instead of standing by Saffron credentials, buckles under pressure from the opposite side of the ideological spectrum.

What BJP did to Nupur Sharma was unacceptable. But political opportunism has been a part of their DNA and they did the same with T Raja Singh. What was his fault? He was only standing for Hindus. Is that a crime?

Sadly, in India it is.

When traders become rulers, truth and valor always take a backseat. When minority gets unequal rights, law of the land is always trampled. When decisions are made on who can shout the loudest, democracy dies.
